'Bella and the Buzzy Bee' was inspired by the fact that my mother, who was born deaf, did not know that snow falls silently until she was in her 40's. One evening when she looked out of the window before going to bed,

she saw that it was snowing and asked me why I had not told her. She assumed I could hear it snowing because of what she 'felt' when she walked on snow.
